Propagation measurements and modeling for future indoor communication systems at THz frequencies
نویسنده
چکیده
This paper provides an overview of propagation studies beyond 100 GHz in the Terahertz Communications Lab in Braunschweig and the results achieved so far. In particular, rough surface reflections are investigated. The example is concrete plaster. Also the effect of multiple reflections in layered media is studied. The investigated material is wall paint on plaster. Index Terms — THz communication, propagation models, scattering, multiple reflections

Last Meter Indoor Terahertz Wireless Access: Performance Insights and Implementation Roadmap
The terahertz (THz) band, 0.1–10 THz, has sufficient resources not only to satisfy the 5G requirements of 10 Gbit/s peak data rate but to enable a number of tempting rate-greedy applications. However, the THz band brings novel challenges, never addressed at lower frequencies. Among others, the scattering of THz waves from any object, including walls and furniture, and ultra-wideband highly-dire...
متن کاملProperties of Building and Plastic Materials in the THz Range
We present measurements of the frequency dependent refractive index and absorption coefficient of a variety of common building and plastic materials between 100 and 1000 GHz. Accurate knowledge of the material parameters is indispensable for the modeling of bound media propagation phenomena including single and multiple reflections, transmission, diffraction and scattering effects. These models...

With the rapid growth of indoor wireless communication systems, the need to accurately model radio wave propagation inside the building environments has increased. Many site-specific methods have been proposed for modeling indoor radio channels. Among these methods, the ray tracing algorithm and the finite-difference time domain (FDTD) method are the most popular ones. The ray tracing approach ...
متن کاملA stochastic multipath channel model including path directions for indoor environments
A novel stochastic channel model for the indoor propagation channel is presented. It is especially for, but not limited to future communication systems with multiple antennas like space division multiple access (SDMA), spatial filtering for interference reduction (SFIR), or multiple-input/multiple-output (MIMO). The model is designed for indoor scenarios, straight forward extendable to urban en...
متن کاملEstimation of Pathloss in Femtocells for Indoor Environments
Femtocells Access Points (FAPs) are low power base stations which improve the cellular service within indoor environments. RF propagation modeling is required to analyze the femtocell performance, power issue and the interference impact on the macro network. An indoor propagation channel is considerably more antagonistic than an outdoor channel. This paper deals with the path loss and coverage ...
